(CTT-Dong Nai) - On the morning of October 31, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang, Provincial Party Committee member and Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Nai province, chaired a meeting to hear reports from the Department of Agriculture and Environment and other provincial departments and agencies, as well as investors, on difficulties and obstacles in implementing projects for the treatment of solid household waste.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang, Provincial Party Committee member and Vice Chairwoman of the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee, spoke at the working session.
According to the report from the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the province currently generates nearly 2,700 tons of household waste per day, of which about 79% is collected and processed, while the remainder is not collected according to regulations. In addition, there are currently 22 temporary landfills in the province, mainly concentrated in the northern area.
Regarding processing infrastructure, the province has 12 solid waste treatment projects, of which 8 projects are currently receiving waste, and the remaining 4 projects have received investment approval and are completing the relevant procedures.

Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dong Nai Province, Tran Trong Toan, spoke at the meeting.
At the meeting, representatives from the Department of Agriculture and Environment stated that the progress of waste-to-energy projects is slow, causing difficulties in coordinating waste management between localities. This leads to waste accumulation, the emergence of many temporary landfills, and the potential risk of environmental pollution.
To overcome these difficulties, the Department of Agriculture and Environment proposed that the Provincial People's Committee assign the Department of Construction to lead and coordinate with relevant departments and agencies to review, update, and integrate the planning of solid waste transfer and treatment infrastructure into the provincial plan. The Department of Industry and Trade should lead the review of the allocation of power generation capacity and the adjustments to the waste-to-energy projects compared to the National Power Development Plan, and update them into the provincial plan. The People's Committees of communes, wards, and towns should urgently review and report to the Department of Construction on the planning and investment of household solid waste transfer stations to ensure their early operation.

Mr. Nguyen Duy Hoa, General Director of Binh Phuoc Environmental Technology Investment and Development Joint Stock Company, reported at the meeting.
In addition, the Department also recommended that the Provincial People's Committee direct the investors, including: Binh Phuoc Environmental Technology Investment and Development Joint Stock Company, Dong Nai Environmental Energy Joint Stock Company, Greenity Dong Nai One-Member Limited Liability Company, Tai Tien Trading Joint Stock Company, Sonadezi Services Joint Stock Company, the joint venture of Ecotech Vietnam Technology Investment and Trading Joint Stock Company - Le Delta Joint Stock Company, Green Group International Investment Joint Stock Company and Phuc Thien Long Limited Liability Company, to accelerate the project implementation progress and report progress periodically to the Department of Agriculture and Environment and the Department of Construction for monitoring. During the implementation process, if any difficulties or obstacles arise, the units should promptly report to the competent authorities for consideration and resolution.

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang stated: The Resolution of the First Provincial Party Congress, term 2025-2030, has set the goal that by 2030, the rate of household solid waste collected and processed according to standards and regulations will reach 97% for urban areas and 90% for rural areas. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to implement comprehensive solutions from management and planning of treatment areas to investing in projects applying modern technology. Along with that, investment in building a system of transfer stations is needed to ensure efficient waste collection and treatment.
The Provincial People's Committee leaders requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment to compile the difficulties and obstacles of the projects and the recommendations of investors, and based on that, advise the Provincial People's Committee on appropriate solutions to improve the effectiveness of environmental protection work in the province.
